Sarah and Rayver's fans are excited to know that they are going to have a movie together. Hmmmm, will a Sarah and Rayver love-team be born after the movie? Well, Sarah is of age and Rayver is such a nice and lovable young actor. So, why not? But we know that whatever is fine with Mommy Divine is fine with Sarah.

The dream team ncludes Vhong Navarro and Toni Gonzaga and is expected to be a sure big hit. Yeeeey!!

Actor Rayver Cruz will have another chance to be closer with Sarah Geronimo as the two are set to do another film together.

"Sa ngayon may gagawin pagbalik ni Sarah, kami ni Vhong (Navarro) and Toni (Gonzaga),” Cruz disclosed during his contract signing with ABS-CBN's movie outfit Star Cinema.

Cruz said he believes that his first movie with Star Cinema, "You Changed My Life," which also starred Geronimo, was a preparation for his upcoming project with the "Pop Star Princess.”

He said he is elated to shoot the movie and vowed to give his best for this big upcoming project.

Cruz, the rumored showbiz crush of Geronimo, admitted that he and the singer are now closer.

"So mas natutuwa ako na mas close kami ngayon dahil sa movie. At least ngayon, nakakausap ko na at nalalapitan ko na. Hindi ko sinasabi na sobrang kumportable na, wala ng distantsiya, pero nakakatuwa na. Kahit nakatalikod siya ay nakakalapit na ako sa kanya at pwede ko na siyang kumustahin," he explained.

Right now though, the actor is not rushing things between them.

"Sa lahat ng mga bagay if you rush things hindi naman maganda," Cruz said. [abs-cbnNEWS]

Update on Sarah Geronimo's US Tour

Newsflash gives us an update on Sarah's concert that all tickets were sold out according to the concert producer, Alfonso Chu or Tita Al as he is fondly called. Sarah is indeed the new concert princess that even during recession, people still paid to see her concert.

“Thank you,” was all Sarah could muster. She was visibly touched and surprised by the huge crowd that gave her two standing ovations in a show that is clearly her best ever. “This is going to be a different show,” promised Tito Al. And he was right. The show was amazing! Sarah has now become a seasoned performer. She danced, sang, bantered with the audience and was completely, visibly in control.

MANILA, MARCH 27, 2009 (STAR) By Raymond de Asis Lo / L.A. Correspondent

Recession or no recession, Sarah Geronimo packs the people in. Be it concert venues and cinema multiplexes in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, she rules the scene.

“All concert tickets were sold out two weeks ago,” declared concert producer Alfonso Chu, or Tito Al, as he is fondly called, over dinner last Friday in Anaheim, California. This writer even overheard Tito Al tell one caller, who was angling for tickets, to just wait for September when Sarah returns for a planned repeat before she does her Canada Tour.

Most concert producers in the US agree that Sarah is the surest thing to a concert hit. This month she returns to Southern California for her sixth concert in five years and she is herself surprised to find that her followers continue to grow. There are some who even travel with her. “We are not poor for you, Sarah,” shouted one group of fans during the concert at the packed Heritage Forum last Saturday.

The repertoire and Sarah’s wonderfully selected guests (Charlie Green, Billy Crawford and Mark Bautista) provided the right mix of music, entertainment and surprises. Even the two attractive dancers from the G Force were a pleasant surprise.

Charlie did an inspired rendition of the OPM classic Dahil Sa ‘Yo and some people were brought to tears. Billy pumped up the show’s energy and he sure has an electrifying presence on stage. His sexy dance moves on stage made the women, and some men, too, swoon. No kidding.

Sarah’s erstwhile loveteam-mate but consistent concert guest Mark provided the night’s other most applauded number. His set of old standards was a crowd-pleaser and earned him an ovation as well. What a voice!

But the night was Sarah’s crowning party. When Billy re-introduced Sarah after his set, he renamed the show from Sarah, the Next One to Sarah, the Only One. Everyone agreed. Sarah is indeed the biggest star in the Philippines right now.

In February, she swept the MYX awards, winning six trophies. Last week, the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Awards handed her an unprecedented recognition. She is 2008’s Box-Office Queen, Female Concert Performer of the Year, and Female Recording Artist of the year.

She could be the youngest Box-Office Queen ever but that is not her most remarkable feat — she did it with just her first movie.

And it doesn’t stop there. This week, her second movie, You Changed My Life, the sequel to A Very Special Love, has shot to the top of the list of all-time box-office hits in the Philippines with ticket sales surpassing the P200-M mark.

When this writer asked Sarah how she feels about this recent string of successes, she said she is “very, very happy.” She added that she is grateful to everyone who has supported and is supporting her. “I owe it to Boss Vic, Star Cinema and Viva.”

She said the risk that Star Cinema and Viva took in casting her and John Lloyd Cruz together is something that she could not have predicted to result in such a huge success. “It surprised me how people positively embraced our tandem.” She couldn’t believe that what started as an experimental team-up on ABS-CBN’s top-rating Maalaala Mo Kaya would make her a movie star. “I feel so blessed. The Lord has given me such overflowing blessings.” A third sequel is said to be in the works.

Her success, of course, came with a few sacrifices.

“There are sleepless nights. There are days we work until the wee hours of the morning.” She looked back to the time she won first place in the Star for a Night contest and realized that she has not stopped working since then. She calls it “strike while the iron is hot.” She has given up some precious time with her family who has to adjust to her schedule.

While other young stars party, she works. Her rare free time is spent at home, watching Titanic on DVD. “I want to fall in love,” she jokingly mused — perhaps suggesting something?

Sarah has been lately linked to Rayver Cruz, but she denied any romantic involvement with him. “Love can wait,” was all she said, to the clear delight of Tito Al who is her biggest fan.

In six years, Sarah has achieved more success than most other stars have in double or triple the time. She seems en route to becoming the next Superstar and Megastar combined.

But hard work alone doesn’t make one a success. There should be a reason why Sarah stands brightest among her contemporaries. There should be one thing that sets her apart from the rest of the pack. What could it be?

She is not strikingly beautiful. People see an ordinary-ness in her but they know that she is above being ordinary. There are singers better than her, but her distinctly melodious voice stands out. She is not the best actress, but she has a natural screen presence akin to that of a young Maricel Soriano. Sarah is a star. She can’t help it and she can’t avoid it.

'Nicole' can damage the image of the Filipino women

Did Nicole find a way to get out of the mess but only for her sake and not for her country - that felt for her and supported her - by moving to the country where her supposedly rapist came from? Why did Nicole do what she did? Has she lost hope and decided to choose the better option to secure her future? Can we blame her? Can we judge her? Not really, because we don’t really know the real reason or who the reason is (if any) behind her change of heart. Perhaps we can speculate that she needed to repair some damages she'd done to an American because she knows she's going to America for good.
I had reservations about her case from the beginning. My belief system was short by 50% and it’s because I had questions like, what was a young girl like her doing in a bar so late at night; and why was she drinking without the company of relatives or friends who could have stopped the situation or have done something that could have prevented the possibility of being raped. I also entertained the thoughts that this may not be the first time she got drank in a bar. But I don’t really know for sure that’s why doubts about the rape never left me.

Here is an interesting commentary:

‘Nicole’ Has Irreparably Damaged the Filipina Image Globally
A Philnews.com Editorial

Most reasonable individuals suspected that it would end with a reversal by the appellate court, but no one expected the reversal to come from the accuser herself. Suzette Nicolas (aka Nicole), in a sworn affidavit to the Makati Court essentially admitted what we at PHILNEWS.COM had suspected all along—she had made it all up! There was no rape; there was no coercion. What there was, in abundance were lies and deceit. Lies and deceit to marshal the gullible and the paranoid to rise up in righteous indignation for what a young and sadly 'clueless' American serviceman had supposedly done to all of Philippine womanhood.
But if there is anyone who has dragged the character of the Filipina through the dirt, it is Nicole. She has shown the world that there are Filipinas out there who will stoop down to any level for a free ticket out of the country. This woman—who riled up the nationalists, the feminists, and the ever-ready rabble-rousers who are prepared yell and scream for whatever cause is presented to them—does not give a 'hoot' about the Philippines or the Filipina! Suzette Nicolas conveniently used both of them to further her own selfish ends. And now that she got what she wanted, she has dumped them all and has scurried off to the 'good ole US of A.'
Sadly, what the Suzette Nicolas and those like her fail to realize is that events such as these do not begin and end in the Philippines. The world was watching. And with today's 24-hour news cycle and the myriad of news mediums presently available, the world has seen the callousness and treachery some Filipinas are capable of.
As it is, things are already tough enough for the beleaguered Filipina image; From the global perception of the Filipina as a domestic helper, to the Filipina as a cheap one-night-stand, the image of the Filipina is in dire need of a major overhaul. Yet despite the commendable efforts of the few who are doing their best to improve that image, those efforts are overwhelmed by a sea of domestic helpers and GROs (guest relations Officers—a euphemism for 'hookers') and those like Suzette Nicolas (or Nicole) who show the world the 'evil' side of the Filipina.

Subic rape victim "Nicole" doubts raped and changes statement

The twist of events in the case of the Subic rape victim (or perhaps a consenting victim, perhaps?) “Nicole” irked and disappointed a lot of people in the country. All those times that she was fighting for her case, she also had lingering doubts if she was really raped by the accused, Daniel Smith. So now she’s in the US for good and that’s just fine since most people would like to have that opportunity, but the point is, she was supposed to hate America for what Smith had done to her as she claimed it. People were asking who could be behind her sudden change of heart, and how she was able to get the permanent resident visa, to name a few.

MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez believes that “Nicole” and her lawyers could be charged with false testimony and perjury after she backtracked on her complaint that she was raped by US Marine Lance Corporal Daniel Smith.
Speaking to reporters yesterday, Gonzalez said it appeared that “we have been taken for a ride” in the Subic rape case.
“So many problems have been created by this. Foreign policy has been affected,” he said. “So much time has been spent. It has split public opinion and caused a lot of emotional upsurge. So whatever she did has created a lot of problems for us.”
Gonzalez said Nicole’s recantation will have “no bearing” on Smith’s appeal before the Court of Appeals since it is not part of the records of the trial.
“Unless you can convince the court to open the trial to admit the affidavit, this will not pass as newly discovered evidence,” he said.
“Under the Rules of Court, there is such a thing as the court taking judicial knowledge or judicial cognizance of events that take place,” he added.
Gonzalez said the CA justices are aware that Nicole had backtracked on her court testimony through the newspapers.
“That is only where this thing could play some role,” he said. “It is up to the court if the justices subconsciously take cognizance of the affidavit. But technically, it should not be given weight.”
Gonzalez said it is remote that the CA would allow a retrial of the case since Nicole is no longer in the country.
Nicole should not ask the court to reopen the case, he added.
He could not recall any case where recantation of the complainant or witness had been given weight after conviction of the accused, Gonzalez said.
‘It was a family decision’
The mother of Nicole said yesterday her daughter’s recantation was a family decision.
“(President Arroyo) has nothing to do with this,” she told abs-cbnNEWS.com. “It was a family decision.”
It was unlikely that they would consult the government because “the government has never helped us,” she added.
Nicole’s mother said her daughter wants to move on as she wants to get married abroad.
In a separate interview with GMA 7, Nicole’s mother denied any alleged “US pressure” on her daughter to recant her testimony of the rape.
Speaking in Filipino, she said her family had decided to put an end to the “sad story” of her daughter.
“My family has grown tired of this (rape) case for the past three years,” she said. “So we thought that that’s enough.”
Smith’s lawyer admits firm notarized Nicole’s affidavit
Jose Justiniano, Smith’s counsel, told The STAR a lawyer from his firm – Sycip Salazar Hernandez and Gatmaitan – notarized Nicole’s affidavit but did not act as her legal counsel.
“Choice of client yan, it’s a wrong concept to say that we acted as counsel for Nicole,” he said.
Justiniano said the lawyer from his firm “simply notarized” the sworn statement of Nicole.
“If you go to a notary public to have a document notarized, does it mean lawyer mo na ‘yun?” he asked.
If Evalyn Ursua wants to know about things, she should ask Nicole’s mother who handed her the letter terminating her services, Justiniano said.
Ursua, Nicole’s former lawyer, plans to charge Smith’s counsels with unethical law practice for allegedly making Nicole execute an affidavit without her knowledge.
Ursua questioned why Nicole’s sworn statement was executed in the office of Sycip Salazar Hernandez and Gatmaitan.
The lawyer who notarized Nicole’s affidavit recanting her testimony during the Subic rape trial is a an associate of the law firm defending Smith, she added.
Ursua said she will ask the Supreme Court to investigate the supposed “unethical practice” of Sycip Salazar Hernandez and Gatmaitan.
Nicole’s affidavit of March 12, 2009 was a “secret” document that was made behind her back “under suspicious circumstances,” she added.
Ursua said it was a “secret affidavit” that did not bind her as Nicole’s counsel of record.
“How can I stop acting as counsel if I have not been terminated yet, when I did not know (about it),” she said.
Ursua said the validity, voluntariness, and genuineness of the affidavit is questionable since Nicole cannot verify it.
Nicole’s mother told her that there was no affidavit when she handed her a letter on March 16, 2009 informing her that her services were being terminated, Ursua added.
Ursua said the contents of the sworn statement did not come from Nicole.
“Yung language na ‘yun sa level of articulation ni Nicole, hindi kanya yan (Nicole is not capable of that language and level of articulation),” she said.
“I know Nicole, I know how she talks, I know how she writes, that’s not Nicole. That affidavit is not evidence, not part of the evidence.”
Smith’s transfer on hold
The government will not ask for Smith’s transfer to Philippine custody while awaiting the courts’ evaluation and decision on the issue, the Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday.
DFA spokesperson J. Eduardo Malaya said Smith will remain at the US embassy while they consult the agencies concerned before it complies with the Supreme Court order to move him to a Philippine facility.
“The issues pertaining to the conviction of Lance Corporal Smith and the custody arrangements over him are pending with the courts,” he said.
“We look to the courts for their evaluation and decision on these matters in the light of relevant factors.”
The DFA said the SC also referred to the matter of appropriate custody or detention arrangements under the Visiting Forces Agreement.
“The confinement or detention by Philippine authorities of United States personnel shall be carried out in facilities agreed on by appropriate Philippine and United States authorities,” the DFA said, quoting the treaty.
“United States personnel serving sentences in the Philippines shall have the right to visits and material assistance.”
The DFA said the Office of the Solicitor General, the Department of Justice and the Department of the Interior and Local Government will be consulted on steps to be taken.
In the meantime, pursuant to the orders of the Supreme Court, “the status quo will be maintained,” the DFA added.
‘Case to prosper without Nicole’
The rape case against Smith can prosper despite the recantation of Nicole, according to a lawmaker.
Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman said Nicole’s recantation and her departure for the United States have left more questions than answers.
“However, the legal situation remains that the rape case against Smith, which is a public crime, can prosper notwithstanding the belated affidavit of recantation from the victim,” he said.
Lagman said Nicole’s affidavit contains “facts consistent with her being raped by Smith.”
These include her admission that she was “virtually unconscious” when Smith had sex with her and that she was “too intoxicated” to repel his advances, and that she is in doubt as to what had transpired, he added.
Lagman said Smith’s payment of P100,000 in damages to Nicole “is a badge of guilt.”
“Why should an accused appealing his conviction pay damages if he is not liable for the crime he has been convicted of?” he asked.
Lagman said there might have been “a conspiracy” to “mock and derail” the Philippine judicial system, secure freedom for Smith, and preserve the Visiting Forces Agreement.
“If she was issued an immigrant’s visa so she can stay in the US for good, what entitles her to an immigrant’s visa?” he asked.
“Did this happen during the pendency of Smith’s appeal with the Court of Appeals?”
Lagman wants to know if Nicole had accepted money other than the P100,000 in damages she claims she received from Smith.
“P100,000 is the equivalent of $2,000,” he said.
“How can she stay in the US for good with $2,000? Who bought her ticket and from what airline? Who was her traveling companion?”
Senators dismayed
Senators expressed dismay yesterday over Nicole’s decision to recant her testimony in court.
Sen. Francis Escudero said Nicole’s recantation should not be used as leverage by the United States to negate efforts to abrogate the VFA.
“Nicole may have recanted but this doesn’t mean that Mr. Smith now goes to Washington,” he said.
“And the US government should be advised not to use Nicole’s latest true confession to plan his exit out of the country.”
Escudero said Nicole’s affidavit is not a “boarding pass to freedom” as legal procedures would have to be followed.
“I cannot blame Nicole for deciding to settle out of court,” he said.
“But her affidavit will just be treated as a mere scrap of paper unless she affirms it in open court.”
Senators Rodolfo Biazon, Joker Arroyo, Loren Legarda and Pia Cayetano agree that Nicole’s action would have a great impact in the renegotiation of the VFA.
Biazon said Nicole’s recantation has raised moral, legal and judicial questions.
“(These questions include) who is the victim, Nicole or Smith?” he asked.
“Smith had lost his career if not a big part of his life. Nicole even raised the question of deficiencies of our justice system. Justice for whom? For Nicole? For Smith? For the Filipino people? Or justice for the Filipina Maria Clara?”
Biazon said the SC’s decision on the jurisdiction issue should be respected by the US government
“The SC has ruled that the American should be immediately turned over to Philippine authorities for imprisonment after he was convicted of the crime of rape by a Philippine court,” he said.
Legarda expressed dismay over Nicole’s sudden decision to discontinue her search for justice.
“America’s act of buying Nicole’s silence is a precedent,” she said.
“They are bound to do this every time. While America keeps its processes intact and its soldiers protected, our morality as a nation is trampled upon, our justice system spat on.”
Cayetano said the issue has gone beyond Nicole.
“Long before Nicole decided to back out, her government already sold her case,” she said.
“(Nicole’s decision) is the biggest letdown because Nicole’s case involves not only the pursuit of justice by a woman whose rights have been violated, but also of an entire people’s assertion of sovereignty before the world’s super power, the United States.”
Nicole, GMA and Obama
Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay found it “uncanny” that Nicole recanted her allegations of rape against Smith a few days after US President Barack Obama called up President Arroyo and assured her of US support for the Visiting Forces Agreement.
“Under the Arroyo administration, nothing happens by accident, especially on such a sensitive and high profile issue as the VFA,” he said.
Binay, United Opposition president, said Malacañang has a lot of explaining to do as Obama’s call came after the Supreme Court ruled that Smith should be detained in a Philippine jail, not the US Embassy.
“Where was the Arroyo government when all these were happening,” he said.
“Was it aware of these developments and its implications? If it were, then it needs to explain a lot of things. If it wasn’t, then the administration abetted an injustice through its negligence.”
Binay said the US embassy should have issued a categorical statement that Nicole had been allowed into the United States.
“Questions will remain whether she (Nicole) was allowed to enter the US on humanitarian grounds, or as part of a settlement that includes her recantation,” he said.
Binay, a former trial lawyer, said that there was presumption of guilt on the side of Lance Corporal Smith when he offered Nicole P100,000 as settlement.
“In criminal cases, if the accused offers a settlement, there is a presumption of guilt, for why would an innocent person offer a settlement?” he said.
Binay agrees with Makati Judge Benjamin Pozon, who convicted Smith of rape, that “Nicole’s” recantation would not necessarily lead to his acquittal.
“Only the trial court can appreciate the demeanor of the complainant, and in the case of Nicole, she showed the demeanor of a victim during the trial,” he said.
On the other hand, the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan said Nicole’s recantation was an offshoot of Obama’s call to GMA.
Renato Reyes Jr., Bayan secretary-general, said Nicole has become a “sacrificial lamb” to preserve US interests in the country.
“Her recantation should be seen in the context of the US and Arroyo government’s efforts to preserve the VFA at all cost, even if this means acquitting Smith and totally discrediting the victim Nicole,” he said.
“It may have been a combination of pressure and hopelessness that made Nicole recant her earlier statement that she was raped.”
Reyes said the Arroyo administration, in partnership with the US, was working for the acquittal of Smith.
“The two governments believe that declaring Smith innocent will make the custody issue moot and will weaken the case against the VFA,” he said.
Reyes said the issue of Smith’s custody has been a take-off point for efforts to question the validity of the VFA.
“Despite a Philippine Supreme Court ruling ordering the Philippine government to negotiate the transfer of Smith to Philippine authorities, both the US and Philippine government have chosen to uphold the status quo,” he said.
“The protracted nature of the legal process, along with a subservient regime, discourages victims from pursuing their cases. We have only the US and Arroyo governments, and the VFA to blame for what has happened to Nicole.” [Edu Punay, with Michael Punongbayan, Jess Diaz, Mike Frialde, Perseus Echeminada, Pia Lee-Brago, Evelyn Macairan, Christina Mendez/PhilStar]

Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao renewed his ties with ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., which will air his next matches including his highly-anticipated superfight with British superstar Ricky Hatton on May 2.

“Pagkatapos kong pagisipang mabuti nilapitan ko ang ABS-CBN [at] nagpagpasyahan ko pong makipag partner muli sa kanila,” Pacquiao, the reigning pound-for-pound king, said Wednesday.

“Sarili ko itong desisyon,” he added. “Sa ABS-CBN mapapanood nyo ang laban ko kay Ricky Hatton at iba ko pang laban.”

Pacquiao and ABS-CBN have collaborated in some of his fights, including the one against Mexican Oscar Larios in July 2006. The broadcasting network also aired his matches to Filipinos overseas through ABS-CBN's The Filipino Channel.

“Wala pang pagbabago,” the General Santos native assured his fans. “Ang laban ko ay laban nating lahat mga Pilipino, kahit saan mang sulok ng mundo.”

Pacquiao also appealed for support from his fans especially in his upcoming fight against Hatton, who is considered as his toughest match to date.

“Sana po, lagi nyo akong ipagdasal sa mga darating ko pang laban, lalung lalo na this coming May second,” said the Filipino champ, who also thanked his former network GMA-7.

ABS-CBN welcomed the return of Pacquiao even as it assured its support for his campaign against Hatton.

“We are very happy with the decision of Manny Pacquiao to be his partner in future fights, including the Pacquiao-Hatton fight on May 2. As his former media partner, we shall support Manny's campaign to bring honor to the Philippines and to his kababayans here and around the world,” said Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Head of Corporate Communications, in a statement.

“To Manny, we say, 'Welcome home, Kapamilya',” he added.

Osorio said that Pacquiao has signed a letter of intent with ABS-CBN which will cover the Hatton match and possibly three or more fights thereafter.

On questions about Pacquiao's contract with Solar Sports Entertainment, Osorio said the boxer will later answer queries to explain his decision.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao has reportedly long been wanting to return to ABS-CBN according to actress and talk show host Kris Aquino.

Aquino said in her program Showbiz News Ngayon that she greeted Pacquiao's wife Jinkee through text (short messaging service) after receiving news that the boxer has reopened his partnership with the network.

"Nakatext ko kanina si Mareng Jinkee Pacquiao at sinabi kong 'welcome back, balik Kapamilya ulit kayo'," said Aquino.

The talk show host said Jinkee replied back with: "'Alam mo mare, matagal na talagang gusto ni Manny magbalik sa ABS-CBN at siya talaga ang may gusto at gumawa ng paraan para maging Kapamilyang muli." [abs-cbnnews.com]

Charice to have her first solo concert in June 27

Charice continue to rise into her stardom for more of her dreams are coming true. She is scheduled to hold her first solo concert on June 27th at the Araneta Coliseum. Knowing Charice, she will surely put all her efforts to make her concert worth watching.

"Baka mag-start ako two weeks before the concert kasi, may recording ako sa States so mahirap talaga ang schedule. Actually siningit ko lang ang rehearsal so kahit maiksi ay araw-arawin ko lang ang pagre-rehearse," explains Charice.

She said proceeds of her concert will go to Bantay Bata 163.

Charice to start shooting her first Hollywood movie

International young diva Charice flew to Los Angeles in the United States Monday morning not only to complete the recording of her first international album but also to start shooting her first Hollywood film. Charice, who was careful not to divulge too many details about the still untitled movie, revealed that the film will be produced by 20th Century Fox. “’Yong story niya umiikot sa tatlong animated characters,” Charice said. Aside from this, the visibly excited young singer refused to give other details about the upcoming film in Hollywood. On top of her first international film and album, Charice is also part of the "David Foster & Friends Live in Concert" in the US.The young singer stayed for a couple of weeks in Manila to fulfill her commitments here, including the taping for The Filipino Chanel's newest station ID. Subic rape victim "Nicole" now unsure whether she was raped.

Subic rape victim, Nicole, has now reversed her statement and doubted if she was really raped by US Marines Lance Corporal Daniel Smith. This was shocking to know. I became speechless for a moment. A lot of things went on my mind... what, why, how did and could this happen?

'Nicole' now doubts if Smith raped her
abs-cbnNEWS.com 03/17/2009 11:01 PM

The woman at the center of a controversy between the US and the Philippines has effectively reversed her statements regarding her rape by a US serviceman in 2005, saying she is now unsure whether she was raped.

In a five-page affidavit submitted Tuesday to the Court of Appeals by the lawyer of convicted US Marines Lance Corporal Daniel Smith, Subic rape case victim "Nicole," said she is now conscience-stricken and now doubts if she was really raped on November 1, 2005.

In the affidavit, which Nicole signed on March 12, 2009, she recalled the events of November 1, 2005 when she claimed she was raped in Subic by Smith, who was convicted a year later.

In her new statement, Nicole admitted she had been drinking a lot of alcohol that night and may have lost her inhibitions.

"With the amount of alcoholic mixed drinks I took, my low tolerance level for alcohol and with only a slice of pizza all night, it dawned upon me that I may have possibly lost my inhibitions, became so intimate with Daniel Smith and did more than just dancing and talking with him like everyone else on the dance floor," Nicole said.

Nicole said she herself poses questions and doubts on the case they built against Smith.

She asked, why would have Smith taken her out of the Neptune Club via the main entrance where a lot of people saw them if he had intended to rape her? And that if she had lost consciousness, as she insisted, why would she recall being kissed and groped by Smith at the back of the van that the American soldiers were using then?

Nicole said her conscience has been nagging her since she was friendly and intimate with Smith that night and they could've have gotten carried away.

"My conscience continues to bother me realizing that I may have in fact been so friendly and intimate with Daniel Smith at the Neptune Club that he was led to believe that I was amenable to having sex or that we simply just got carried away," she said.

'Risk public outrage' for justice

Nicole said she realizes that she will come under criticism for these statements, but she said she can't help but entertain doubts on what really happened.

"I expect many sectors to question my motives in executing this statement more than three years after the incident... thinking over and over again how I may have conducted myself at the Neptune Club, I can't help but entertain doubts on whether the sequence of events in Subic last November of 2005 really occurred the way the court found them to have happened," it read.

Nicole added she would rather face public outrage than do nothing to help the court ensure that justice has been served.

"I would rather risk public outrage than do nothing to help the court in ensuring that justice is served," she added.

The affidavit was submitted to the CA by Smith's lawyer Jose Justiniano, who also said, that they have settled their financial obligations to Nicole, worth P100,000.

All signs point to a deal

A veteran trial lawyer told ABS-CBN News this latest development in the rape case has all the indications that a deal has been reached between Smith and the victim.

The lawyer, who declined to be named, said that the recantation could eventually lead to the dismissal of the case and Smith's acquittal.

He said the ball is now in the hands of the prosecution on whether it will still insist that Nicole was indeed raped. It will then depend on the court to assess the value of Nicole's affidavit and decide whether to dismiss the case. -- report from Marieton Pacheco, ABS-CBN News

Charice "Fingerprint" video and lyrics

How can I be sure
When everything is so confusing
Im old enough to learn
But Im too young to know what Im doing
Gotta break free, from what used to be
It no longer makes sense to me
Ooouhh oooouuh

How do I stand out
In a world thats all about fitting in
Im certain of my doubts
But I wouldnt be me for no reason
My identity, right in front of me
Theres nobody else I wanna be like
Ooouhh oooouuh

Im just trying to find
Find my fingerprint
Redefine who am I
Where do I begin?
All I know is what Ive been told
But the one I see in the mirror is so different
Unique as my fingerprint

Im positive that I dont know where Im going.
How do I make sense of all these crazy emotions?
Im up and down, cant turn around
But Im so clear in my intention.
Ooouhh oooouuh

Oh cause Im just trying to find
Find my fingerprint
Redefine who am I
Where do I begin?
All I know is what Ive been told
But the one I see in the mirror is so different
Unique as my fingerprint

To facing me like Ive seen me
Not even close
If they know me like I know me
I dont know
Im still undecided but I realize that its okay
Good things are worth the wait

Im just tryin’ yeah
Where do I begin?
All I know oh …
So different
Unique as my fingerprint.

Find my fingerprint
Redefine who am I
Where do I begin?
All I know is what Ive been told
But the one I see in the mirror is so different
Unique as my fingerprint

Is Kim Chiu anorexic?

I'm sure a lot of people have been noticing how much Kim have lost weight. She is too thin already. Is she anorexic? In her past interviews, Kim kept on saying no, she's not anorexic, and that she's been eating a lot but she's just not gaining weight. But how does she know for sure. Many of us are very concerned and she probably needs a nutritionist or seek the advice of a medical professional. Here is an information about how you can know if you are an anorexic and how you can deal with the problem.

Pops Fernandez understands Martin Nievera's reaction

Everybody knows by now that Pops was recently dumped by her boyfriend of 3 years, Jomari Yllana. She called ex-husband Martin Nievera to break the sad news of her break-up, and as a friend and father to her two sons, Martin reacted and defended Pops. Jomari was not happy with Martin’s remarks and asked Martin to stop meddling because he was not part of the issue. Martin agreed that he should not have intervened but explained that he was only feeling bad for Pops who was obviously hurting at that time.

In my opinion, Martin should have just comforted Pops in private and left everything a private matter between Pops and Jomari because he would only put himself in the hot seat and the table can turn against him. We know how much and how many times he had hurt Pops in the past, so now how can he make such judgment on Jomari for hurting Pops. But at least Martin realized what he has done and promised to never speak again on the issue.

Kris Aquino, Ai Ai Delas Alas, and how they reconciled

Finally, Kris and Ai Ai have reconciled, of course with the blessings of James Yap. Their falling out happened a few years back when James was accused of having an affair with a Belo employee, which caused Kris so much pain. Ai Ai who was a dear friend to Kris showed her support for Kris and made a very nasty comment that irked James Yap. Kris and Ai Ai did not really quarrel. It’s just that Kris didn’t have a choice but to respect and support her husband’s decision to not be friends with Ai Ai anymore.
How did they reconcile? According to Kris, the night Ai Ai was rushed to the hospital, she and James had a talk that resulted with James giving an approval for Kris and Ai Ai to be friends again. The following day, at SNN, Kris made a comment wishing Ai Ai to get well soon. Ai Ai, who was watching the show, was touched and felt the sincerity of Kris. To make the happy ending shorter, they both expressed how much Ai Ai loved Cory Aquino and their beautiful friendship is back for good.

Pops Fernandez vs Jomari Yllana, Jomari vs Martin Nievara

Sana, marinig namin ang sagot ni Martin na, “Me and my big mouth!”
While watching Jomari that Saturday midnight, I cannot help but imagine myself on TV.
Parang ako ang nagbibitiw ng mga salitang ‘yun mula kay Jomari. Tumbok na tumbok ni Jomari ang mga pagkakamali ni Martin.

Sino ba ang unang nang-iwan kay Pops kundi si Martin?
Kinakastigo ni Martin si Jomari as if Jomari was asking back: “Are you speaking for yourself, Mr. Nievera?”
But were the kids involved in the fray? It’s just between Jomari and the toy na napulot niya.
Ano’ng karapatan ni Martin na sumigaw sa namulot and shout: “Hoy! Akin ‘yan!”?
Sana, inisip na lang ni Martin na huwag na siyang makisawsaw dahil he is equally guilty.
Kumbaga sa krimen, si Martin ang gun hol¬der at si Jomari ay accomplice lang!
So Martin gets the weight of the crime.
“Ayokong makialam diyan, it’s between the two of them, baka makalkal pa ang una kong ginawa,” ‘yun dapat ang ibi¬nigay na sagot ni Martin sa mga nag-interbyu sa kanya. How come kaya ni Jomari na umiwas sa mga interview when he’s younger than Martin?
And I am here not just to write praises for stars kundi pangaralan din sila at ituwid ang anumang mga pagkakamali nila.
Jomari and brothers Anjo & Ryan listen to our wisdom and we admire them for that.
Hindi kagaya mo, Mr. Martin Nievera, who acts and moves around as if know-it-all ka at ikaw ang pinakasikat na singer sa buong mundo.
From day one, itinaboy mo kami sa kampo ni Gary V. And through all the years Gary and A¬ngeli nurtured our friendship at malasakit sa career ni Gary V (including his health) and through all the years that passed -- heto ka, mukhang isang strugglling singer pa rin sa tabi ni Gary V.
Your dad made a mistake when he left Conchita Razon for ano¬ther girl. You left Pops for ano¬ther girl.
How can I be sure no one in your two sons will leave the mother of their children, too? Remember, it comes in threes? Or you don’t know?
I have seen and mingled with more Americans in Clark Air Base more than you did in Hawaii na mas marami pang Pinoys and other nationalities kesa pure Americans kaya I understand your attitude towards passing friendships lang and not lasting relationships with friends na may mga tunay na malasakit.
The way I see it, you treat people around you as mere passing fancy -- no lasting relationships nor friendships!
I understand that. As I understood every nuan¬ces of every nationalities. I studied that. You didn’t.
Buka ka lang buka nang buka ng bibig mo -- to sing and mostly to talk, talk, talk palatok! Tila walang meaning ang life sa iyo.
Do you have true friends, Mr. Nievera?
To Jomari: very well said, anak! Hindi halatang galing kay Tito Dougs mo ang binabasa mo! Hahahaha!!!!

Charice aims for the Grammys

Filipina singer Charice Pempengco doesn’t claim to know the answer to that question.
“It’s all up to God,” she said.
But is she thinking of, maybe, going Hollywood?
After all, she sang not just in one, but two post-Oscar parties – in famed Beverly Hills resto Mr. Chow, and Oprah Winfrey’s bash held at the Kodak Theater.
Does she see herself co-starring with “High School Musical” heartthrob Zac Efron?
“No. I’d rather be in an adventure-comedy with Alvin and the Chipmunks,” she quipped.
The pint-sized Charice, 16, who can imitate the singing styles of local divas like Jessa Zaragoza and Sarah Geronimo, can likewise mimic the voices of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore from the animated music group Chipmunks.
But if there’s anything at all that Charice wishes to achieve through music, it is to be included in the most prestigious industry event in America.
“What’s on my mind is the Grammys,” she said.
She hopes to attend next year’s Grammy Awards as a nominee – especially since her debut album, currently being recorded and produced by David Foster, is set for release this summer.
“That’s my dream,” she admitted. “That one of my songs would be nominated, that I would win as Best New Artist.”
She sang her first single off that album, “Fingerprint,” along with Beyoncé Knowles’ “Listen,” in the two post-Oscar parties.
“I’m so thrilled because I saw a young girl on YouTube singing ‘Fingerprint,’” Charice related. “To think I had just recorded it, but she has already memorized all the words!”
“Fingerprint” was written by Robbie Nevil, the same guy behind The Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up” and Jordin Sparks’ “One Step at a Time,” as well as three songs on the “High School Musical” soundtrack. He also recorded the hit tune “C’est La Vie” in 1987.
“We hope to have at least 10 songs in the new album,” Charice said. “We’re looking for ballads, R&B and upbeat numbers. I want most of the tracks to be original, with maybe just two covers.”
Having her own signature song is important to her: “So that when people watch my concerts, they would get to hear my own music, not just cover versions of Whitney Houston and Celine Dion hits.”
She also feels strongly about including a Filipino song in her US debut.
She said she got more nervous performing for fellow Filipinos in local shows compared to foreigners in gigs abroad.
Case in point: She confessed to having butterflies in her tummy prior to her latest free concert, a Women’s Month celebration at the Shangri-La Plaza mall. “Filipinos are very picky,” she said. “If you impress them, they will show their appreciation. If not, they will also show it!”
But seeing their faces light up is enough to inspire Charice.
“With every performance, here or abroad, I aim to make Filipinos proud,” she said.

Gerald Anderson to do a movie with Sarah Geronimo

Gerald Anderson is being considered as the next leading man for Sarah Geronimo, which could mean that Gerald has to be pulled away from Kim to give way to a Gerald-Sarah team-up, which is enough reason to make Kimeralds very unhappy and possible angry.

As reported by ABS-CBN News, with Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz's on screen team-up taking the back-seat after two highly successful films, rumor has it that the Pop Star Princess’s next leading man will be Gerald Anderson. But much like the initial negative reactions that surfaced when the Sarah-Lloydie love-team was announced, there are worries that pairing Gerald with Sarah might not be a good idea because Gerald’s current team-up with Kim Chiu is also a team up to beat. Sarah seemed to agree with this idea in an interview with The Buzz yesterday (March 15). “Mahirap ‘yan kasi alam naman natin na ka love-team ni Gerald si Kim,” she voiced out. “Bahala na kung ano ang will ni Lord at ng management kung ano ‘yung ma-settle nila. Hindi ko naman puwedeng sabihing oo naman na agree na agree (dahil) maraming kailangang intindihin pa muna.”

Gerald on the other hand, said that he has yet to hear about the offer. “Siguro chismis-chismis lang ‘yan kasi wala pa namang offer from Star Cinema mismo directly to me. Wala,” he explained.

The actor revealed that he and Kim are slated to film a movie this July, leading him to believe that a team-up with Sarah is not yet possible. But if ever this were true, this will only be temporary and that he will eventually be reunited with Kim. “Sa amin naman, hindi mawawala ang Kimerald dahil kahit maghiwalay muna kami o maghiwalay kami, sa future magbabalik pa rin kami sa isa’t-isa,” justified the Fil-Am actor. Kim also said that she is okay with the idea but that they have not yet received any announcement about this.

In the POV (Points, Opinion, Violent Reactions) of The Buzz, Kris Aquino revealed that Deo Endrinal, the production unit head of Tayong Dalawa, which stars Kim and Gerald, had a talk with Vic del Rosario, head of Viva Films which in turn manages Sarah’s career. “Kasi feeling naman daw niya, Sarah should be teamed (up) with somebody close to her age bracket. Si Gerald talaga among those age bracket, siya talaga ang nangingibabaw ngayon. So pinag-iisipan ‘yan,” shared Kris. Boy Abunda on the other hand said that he has a split opinion about the matter as far as the fans are concerned. Kim and Gerald have a very huge following but when Sarah was teamed up with John Lloyd in A Very Special Love he also was highly identified with Bea Alonzo, so one can not really tell. “It’s good to be paired with other partners but you have to be careful because you play with the public eh. Take into consideration how fans will take it. You have to manage kung ano ang pananaw ng tagahanga,” Boy commented.

Depression and how you can help yourself

Some people I know that have depression were depending on science to help them with their problem. They spend a lot of time and money seeing a therapist which is good if you are getting the help you need. But I believe that people with depression should also do something to help them in their situation and not leave everything entirely with their doctor or therapist. I found this article about what you can do if you are going through depression that may help lead to your recovery.

According to the article written by Dr. Howard Levy, treatment of depression often involves multiple and different strategies. For some patients, a few simple home remedies are all that's needed. But even those who need counseling and/or medications will benefit from these do-it-yourself techniques:

Exercise. The fatigue and poor motivation brought on by depression can make it very hard to get up and get moving, so resuming or increasing your former exercise program—or beginning a new one—may be difficult at first. However, the rewards should come quickly. The increased blood flow, breathing rate, and muscle use associated with exercise will improve energy levels during the day and result in more restful sleep overnight.

Even more importantly, exercise causes the release of chemicals called endorphins in the brain. Endorphins elevate the mood and increase energy levels. They are the source of the "runner's high"—a state of euphoria that endurance athletes experience after a sustained period of exertion. Think of endorphins as your own natural antidepressants.

And, of course, exercise has additional benefits beyond treating depression. High on the list is reducing the risks of diabetes, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease. Burning calories while exercising can also help you combat the tendency towards weight gain that's associated with both depression itself and with several prescription antidepressant medications.

One trick for overcoming inertia and beginning an exercise regimen is to simply make a schedule of exercise time, and commit to doing a specific activity during that time. Start with 20 to 30 minutes 3 times per week, and then try to build towards 45 to 60 minutes every day. If it helps you, try thinking of exercise as a prescription from your doctor to treat depression. It also helps if you can find one or more types of physical activity that you enjoy, or at least don't dislike too much.

Laughter. The simple act of laughing also releases endorphins, thus treating depression. Of course, being depressed can make it very hard to laugh, so this may not be practical advice in the early stages of treating severe depression. But as soon as you're able to, going out of your way to find funny things and experience some good, hearty laughter is seriously helpful!

Light. It is well known that the shorter days of winter are associated with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) in many people, and worsen symptoms in those with chronic depression. Increasing your exposure to natural sunlight will help elevate your mood right away, and regular light therapy can be very beneficial for treating depression. If you've made the commitment to exercise as part of a depression management program, try to schedule at least some of your activity outdoors in the daytime. The winter months can be a challenge, but creative scheduling and some really warm clothes will help a lot. If getting outdoors isn't practical, the next best thing is to spend as much time as possible in front of a big window that lets in a lot of light.

Another option is artificial sunlight. There are several companies that market lamps specifically for treating depression, SAD, and low mood. These special lights can be ordered directly on the Internet, and are available in just about every price range. I suggest placing the light next to your bed and plugging it into a timer. Have it turn on about 10 minutes before you plan to wake up, and lie in bed under the light for about half an hour or so every day. Artificial sunlight is a great idea even if you already get time outdoors and/or window exposure during the day.

Attitude. For many people, depression is caused or worsened by a variety of stressful or sad thoughts and situations. Resisting or denying a diagnosis of depression can become yet another source of stress, and actually worsen your symptoms. Failing to accomplish desired or necessary tasks, a common problem in depressed people, often makes things worse, too.

Try to take stock of your current abilities and limitations—what you can do now, not what you used to be able to do—and then set out some specific, modest goals. Just getting a few things accomplished can help to reduce stress, and that will help improve the depression.

Also, consider whether worrying about things beyond your control is productive or helpful to you. Perhaps the best way to summarize the importance of attitude is with the serenity prayer:

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.

Sarah Geronimo, Rayver Cruz, getting as close as MU

Everybody is extra keeping watch of Sarah and Rayver to hopefully get a scoop of what's really going on between them. When Sarah mentioned in an interview before that Rayver was her crush - which super flattered naman si Rayver - rumors and speculations have never stopped. But Sarah insisted up to this day, that all they have for each other is nothing but admiration and friendship. She consistently said that she is not ready for any relationships and that her parents have also restricted her to any heart related commitment. Sarah has many admirers and there are many reasons for these guys to wish they are the man closes to her heart. Sarah is a very sweet, wholesome, funny, pretty, talented, kind and a respectable person. She also values her family which can mean that she is a potential good wife and excellent mother who will also value her own future family. Sarah is not the type of person who will do anything behind her parents back. So if Sarah says she's not ready for a love relationship yet, then she's not ready. This includes MU. But, in fairness, bagay talaga sila.

Why Jomari Yllana broke up wih Pops Fernandez

Many were speculating and reporting about the possible reason why Jomari broke up with Pops, including Pops herself, because everything suddenly happened and she had no idea what made Jomari end their three-year relationships. I've been guessing this myself from the beginning because I think Pops and Martin were still not letting go. Any man or woman who would have a relationship with them would feel insecured because they just still look good together (Pops & Martin) as a love team in reel and real life. Did Jomari got jealous of Martin? or was the break-up about money as initially reported? One of these days, we will hear the truth straight from Jomari's mouth of why he did what he did to Pops.

Pops Fernandez have an idea why Jomari broke up with her

Pops Fernandez dismissed the rumors that she and actor Jomari Yllana broke up because of money matters or that she rekindled romance with ex-hubby Martin Nievera on Showbiz News Ngayon (March 10 episode). Ever since their split up came out in the news last week, Pops and Jomari were mum on the real cause of the break-up until the Concert Queen broke her silence on SNN.

Pops said that reports saying the break up was caused by money issues is really shallow. “Nung una ‘yung reaction siyempre, ‘Ha?!’ Nagulat ako, bakit ‘yun? Parang out of all the other reasons, I can think of, that’s never in the top 100 list or 500 list (even). Kasi wala talaga akong maisip na time ever na nagkaroon ng diperensiya sa pera.” She also denied claims that Jomari supposedly borrowed half a million pesos from her and that this eventually led to a heated argument. “Ako ha, heto ‘yung alam ko. Wala kami ever naging problema sa pera,” she assured. For her, this excuse is quite unfair.

The singer-actress then admitted that she is not sure of the real reason why they broke up. She guessed that it had something to do with her reunion concert with Martin, where Jomari was one of the producers of the show. “Siguro kasi the latter part, we were really pressured, without wanting to be. Siyempre when you’re working on a project. Siguro na-discover namin na there were so many differences because we’ve never worked together before,” she shared. She further explained that a professional involvement could have brought out the worst in them, damaging their personal relationship. “It’s a different world for us eh, ‘di ba all of a sudden, iba na ‘yung pinag-uusapan namin. Pareho kaming involved. Tapos pareho rin kaming pressured,” she said.

When host Boy Abunda suggested that Jomari might have felt jealous of her ex-husband, Pops said that this crossed her mind. She added that her reunion with Martin was just work and it was actually more of them moving on with their separate lives. [ABS-CBN]

After "You Changed My Life", announcing what's next?

Too much pressure daw ang naramdaman ni Sarah ng ina-nounce na mag-kakaroon ng pangatlong movie ang movie nila ni John Lloyd pero marami ang na-excite sa balita lalong lalo ng ang mga fans na nakaka-relate kina Laida at Miggy.

The victory party of You Changed My Life last Monday night, March 9, turned out to be a very emotional one as Director Cathy Garcia-Molina thanked everyone who made the movie possible, especially those who worked behind the scenes. “Maraming beses na ako umaakyat ng entablado, sa mga presscons or sa premiere night, pero ito ang isang bagay na hindi ko nagagawa. ABS-CBN has always taught us the value of meritocracy. And I think I am so guilty because hindi ko siya naisasabuhay. I failed to thank the people who have helped me finish a film every time… [Sa cast], you have made my tears go away literally. You all made me laugh. Natatanggal po nila yung sama ng loob ko. I know I can be a monster at times pero kayo yung nakakapitan ko every time,” she said in between tears during her moving speech.

John Lloyd Cruz also commended the crew for giving their all to the project despite the long working hours. Then he announced that he would share 10 percent of his fee to “the boys” who really went without sleep and baths for days just to deliver a quality movie on time for its playdate. “Kasi alam ni’yo, yung success ng pelikula, nakikita ni’yo lang kasi yung malalaking pangalan na nasa poster. Pero malaking part ng success ng pelikula yung hirap at pagod ng crew. And ako naiintindihan ko na we all live in a third world country. I don’t think they’re getting much of what they deserve. Ako I just want to share, para rin mas masarap ang tulog ko sa gabi,” he later explained to the network’s reporters who attended the occasion.

But the main highlight of the event was when Star Cinema Managing Director Malou Santos announced that there would be a sequel to You Changed My Life next year. “[You Changed My Life] made history because it’s the first sequel na ginawa sa Philippine movie history na isang love story na nagkaroon ng sequel at mas malakas pa sa original. So alam namin na itong franchise na ito ay marami pa’ng tatakbuhin. Maraming naka-relate kay Laida at kay Miggy kasi feeling ng lahat ng tao katabi lang nila sila. So alam namin na ang characters ng movie na ito kahit saan magpunta dala-dala nating lahat. So sundan ninyo ang sunod na kabanata sa buhay ni Laida at ni Miggy sa part three,” she declared much to everyone’s excitement, including ABS-CBN President Charo Santos-Concio who was reportedly the one who wanted another sequel the most.

Sarah Geronimo, on the other hand, was a bit apprehensive when she heard the news because people’s expectations of her would be much greater, given the accomplishments that her two films have made in less than a year. “Wow na lang po ang masasabi ko. Risky yun. Sobrang risky po yun. Pero bahala na si Lord. Katulad nung pinasa-Diyos na lang namin yung dalawang pelikula. Bahala na po. Siyempre happy and excited din ako pero nandun na kaagad yung kaba,” she admitted.

As for John Lloyd, he feels sad that it would take some time before the said reunion movie would push through. “Medyo nalulungkot ako kasi may part three nga pero ang dami pang mangyayari [at] ang dami pang pagdadaanan. Ako manggagaling po sa—I think—dalawang pelikula bago namin magawa yun. Nalulungkot ako kasi ang tagal ko pa silang makakasama eh, si Sarah, yung ibang cast, at yung crew... Mangyayari nga pero parang ang tagal pa,” he maintained.

The two lead stars of the film also stressed how much they appreciate their fans’ all-out support ever since they did A Very Special Love last 2008. “Kung pwede ko lang kayo lahat i-powerhug! Ginulat ni’yo kami ng husto sa suporta na ibinibigay ni’yo sa You Changed My Life [at] sa tandem namin ni John Lloyd. At if ever magkaroon kami ng movie part three or ng part four, sana po nandiyan pa rin kayo. [Sana magpatuloy] yung interest ni’yo na ma-witness ulit kung ano na yung development sa love story ni Laida Magtalas and ni Miggy Montenegro,” she beamed.

You Changed My Life is now on its third week showing in theatres nationwide. Watch out for more updates about the Box Office team-up of Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz here on ABS-CBN.com.

Gunman kills at least 11 people at German school

Gunman kills at least 11 people at German school

WINNENDEN, Germany (Reuters) - A gunman killed at least 11 people, mainly students, at a secondary school in southwest Germany on Wednesday, officials said.

It appeared to be the worst school shooting in the country in seven years.

The gunman, who German media reports said was dressed in black combat gear, had fled from the school in Winnenden, a town of 27,000 near Stuttgart, and was still on the loose.

"The suspect hasn't been caught yet," a police spokeswoman said.

At least 11 people had been killed, he said.

Helicopters were circling above the historic market town, which had been largely sealed off.

The Albertville-Realschule in Winnenden, a secondary school for students aged around 10 to 16, had been evacuated and rescue workers and fire fighters were at the scene.

Television pictures showed dozens of heavily-armed black-clad SWAT teams entering the two-storey white building.

"Police are coming through the whole time. They're obviously looking all over town for him," said Roberto Seifert, who works at a company neighboring the school. "We've never had anything like this," he told Reuters.

German media said the gunman was a former student at the school. Other reports said the suspect was a 17-year old, who had used weapons his parents legally held at home.

Germany has strict weapons laws, with gunholders having to fulfill certain criteria on age and weapons expertise to obtain a license for firearms.

A market town whose origins stretch back to the 12th century, Winnenden is the hometown of German firm Kaercher, a maker of high pressure cleaners.

Several school shootings have shocked Germany in past years. In 2006, a masked man wearing explosives and brandishing rifles opened fire at a school in the western town of Emsdetten, wounding at least 11 people before committing suicide.

In April 2002, Germany suffered its worst school shooting when a gunman killed 17 people, including himself, at a high school in the eastern city of Erfurt.

Wednesday's shooting followed a rampage in the United States on Tuesday in which a gunman shot dead 10 people then killed himself in southern Alabama.

Joachim Kersten, from the police academy in Muenster western Germany, suggested on N24 television that the news of the Alabama shooting might have encouraged the gunman in Germany.

"For someone on the verge of (wanting to commit such an act), there's nothing more appealing than such pictures," Kersten said. "Such people...are very interested in the media description of such events," he said, referring to the images of the Alabama shooting spree.

Family members of victims of a shooting rampage comfort each other in Samson, Ala.
An Alabama man with an assault weapon burned down his mother's house around her, shot his grandparents, aunt and uncle dead, then killed five other people Tuesday before turning the gun on himself, authorities said.

Coffee County coroner Robert Preachers identified the shooter as Michael McLendon and said he was in his 30s. It was unclear if the mother, Lisa McClendon, who died, had been shot.

Authorities gave no motive for the rampage that claimed victims in several homes in the small towns of Kinston, Samson and Geneva and along the highway connecting them. Two of the dead were a sheriff deputy's wife and 3-month-old child.

Several other people were injured, including Geneva Police Chief Frankie Lindsey, who was saved by his bulletproof vest, and a state trooper wounded by flying glass when his car was hit with seven slugs.

Investigators Tuesday night were looking into possible shootings in other locations. "This is one of the most tragic events ever in Geneva County," state Sen. Harri Anne Smith said.

The carnage began in the late afternoon in Kinston, where Michael McLendon burned down his mother's home. Officials said McClendon then went to nearby Samson and shot his grandparents, aunt and uncle.

The sheriff deputy's wife and child were slaughtered in their mobile home, officials said. McClendon also killed another person at a Samson supply store and a woman at a service station, they said. The location of the shooting of the 10th victim was unclear.

Cops said McClendon fired randomly at people as his maroon Mitsubishi Eclipse traveled along Highway 52 toward Geneva's Reliable Metal Products, which makes grills and vents for heating and air conditioning systems, mainly for hotels.

"He was just driving down the street shooting at people sitting on their porches," Smith said. "A family was just sitting on the porch and they were shot."

Cops caught up with McClendon at Reliable, where he was said to be a past or present employee. After firing 30 rounds at the officers, he went inside and shot himself to death.
